Qt/Vista webinar

Naren Karattup (our product manager) and I did a webinar two weeks back titled “Bringing C++ to Vista: Leveraging Your C++ Code-Base to Create Native Windows® Vista™ Applications”. If you missed it, you can now see it offline here. From the webcast link “We recommend the following operating systems: Windows XP SP2, and Mac OS X 10.4″. Sigh. Nevertheless, once you register, you should be able to see the slides.

This flows pretty badly when viewed in non-real-time recorded format. “Next slide please” gets really annoying and the presenters interrupt/talk over each other. Coordination could’ve been better.

Most importantly, if you are already a Qt user who reads this weblog you will be bored to death. The interesting bits for anyone with any knowledge of Qt and Vista probably add up to 5 minutes. This presentation is clearly aimed at people unfamiliar with Qt and really has little to do with Vista beyond “we support Vista too, you know”.

Matthias: Also I did my B.E not B.Ed :) If you have the time, visit Tanjore too.
Craig Ringer: Yes, it is very targeted at people who know little of Qt. Regarding having little to do with Vista – The whole point of Qt is you do not need to deal with platform specifics. So we talk about features of Qt and state they work as expected on Vista. I can see why it can be boring to an audience that knows about Qt though.
